Ransom E. Olds drove this car to a record speed of 54.38 mph. Olds was an interesting man. In 1901 his motorcar factory was destroyed in a fire. The only thing that was saved was a prototype Curved Dash Olds that employees manage to push out of one of the buildings. The Curved Dash went into production and did well but in 1904 a disagreement within the company forced Olds out of the company that he had founded. That same year he founded the REO Motorcar Company (REO being based on his initials).
