1959 DS Barquette

Andre Ricou built this car from a crashed Citroen DS 19.  The original chassis was sectioned- the result was a shortened wheelbase.

He had built an earlier car but this one was lighter and had improved aerodynamics.  The Citroen's front wheel drive and hydropneumatic suspension made it competitive at hill climbs and in the snow.

The engine was upgraded to 120 hp.  The original DS 19 weighed 2725 lbs (1236 kg) while the Barquette tipped the scales at 1650 lbs (748 kg).  The raced in the 2 liter class and had a top speed of 125 mph (201 kmh).  The car finished well in its class.

Trailer

I am curious as to what function this homemade trailer performs.  Is it simply for cargo?  Is it seating for five?  Is it sleeping quarters?

Dalnik D06

There have been a number of dalniks (cabin motorcycles) and most have been from eastern Europe in particular the former Czechoslovakia.  Jan Anderle is considered by some to be the father of dalniks and there is a bit of information on him here.

Design flaw

Apparently this is not an uncommon failure of the hood on some Cadillac Escalades.  Rust forms between the upper and lower sheet metal pieces.  At speed the wind enters the front seam area and basically inflates the cavity between the two sheets of steel.

Hit and run

I believe I counted over 30 people exiting this van.
