Tucker Sno-Cat

E.M. Tucker started putting together his thoughts on traveling through harsh snow conditions in 1942.  Over the past seventy years the original design has mostly been retained but the improvements have made it the premier method of getting around on vast fields of snow.

The original Sno-Cat had 10hp and drove only the rear tracks.  Today's versions are powered by Cummins diesel engines that range from 160 to 300 horsepower. A fifty gallon fuel tank and a 36,000 BTU heater provide both extended range and reasonable comfort for the occupants.

And, yes, the pictured Sno-Cat was saved from falling into the crevasse.

1937 Airomobile Sedan C

The Airomobile was powered by an air cooled engine developed by two engineers formerly associated with the Franklin Automobile Company.  Paul Lewis of Denver, Colorado conceived the futuristic design in the early 1930's.  The front wheel drive vehicle went on a promotional 45,000 mile tour in 1937.  The car was a technical success.  It achieved 80 mph and got 43 mpg but failed to gain the financial support needed to go into production.

Snakes alive

Guido Mocafico has beautiful serpent images.  See additional photos here.

I also recently came across this video of a King Cobra.  I was unaware of their ability to growl.  This video is a thing of nightmares!
