Cormorant fishermen

On the Li River in the Guangxi province of China.  An old fishing method achieved by having the cormorants dive for fish.  Their necks are bound with cord and they are unable to swallow the fish they catch.  They return to the boat where the fishermen remove the fish and place it in a basket.

The method was once a successful industry, but today it is done mostly for tourists and their cameras.  Especially popular along a 50 mile length of the river between the cities of Guilin andYangshuo.
