A different kind of stretch

Styling Garage produced a stretched Mercedes in 1985 called the SGS Royale. Not only was it stretched in length but also in width and height. They were a bit pricey (925,000 in today's dollars) so there wasn't a huge demand. The Sultan of Brunei liked them enough to purchase three of the SGS Royales. Wikicars has a bit more.

Transparent Pontiac

One of two or three Pontiacs built for the 1940 World's Fair.  After that it went to the Smithsonian until the end of WWII. Then it was passed around to several Pontiac dealers before being sold. Hemmings ran a story in 2011 about the car coming to a RM Auctions event.

RM Auctions apparently sent Hemmings a more detailed history on the car and that can be read at the bottom of the Hemmings article posted here.

On the road

This photo was taken by a bicyclist who was touring Tasmania. He came across this rig. That rider was from Sri Lanka and spoke very little English so not much information was exchanged. Certainly not the equipment you would expect a world tourer to be riding.
