Dr. Leonid Rogozov

In 1962 Dr. Rogozov was stationed with twelve other Soviet men at a research station in Antartica. He developed peritonitis from a perforated appendix.  The closest Soviet station was 1000 miles away.  With the assistance of a driver and a meteorologist he removed his own appendix after administering a dose of novocaine to his abdominal wall.

Trident Iceni Magna

The British automaker, Trident, has just introduced its new Iceni Magna supercar.  Powered by a 6.6 liter turbo charged diesel engine rated at 395 hp and 700 ft/lbs of torque.  It is able to reach a speed of 60 mph in 3.7 seconds as it rockets it way to a top speed of 190mph.  Because it can squeeze 53 miles out of a gallon of biodiesel it has a cruising range of 2000 miles.  The price is $161,000.

If the performance is lacking for your personal taste Trident will build their track model for you for an additional $50,000.  That car sports 660 hp and 1000 ft/lbs of torque.

Additional information on the Magna available here or visit the Trident website.

Best seller

These T-shirts are sold at a Canadian Indian reservation.  In recent years the use of caricatures or slang terms for native Americans as team names has caused controversy.  Some say it is disrespectful and demeaning to use these slang names or to use a non-complementary caricature as a trademark.  The t-shirt example shows a sense of humor can be brought to the debate.

For those who do not know the Cleveland Indians are an American professional baseball team.
