Pie Town, New Mexico

Shorpy.com has some great photographs, and they sell prints.

This photo was taken in June of 1940 in front of the Pie Town post office.  The post office was a stop on the Socorro-Springerville Express.  It was a run of about 150 miles that operated six days a week.  On this trip they had boxes of chicks strapped to the rear bumper.

These photos caught my eye because I had the opportunity to pass through Pie Town back in 2000.  Pie town is about as rural as it gets in the Southwest.  While I don't believe the Express still runs I don't think much development has taken place in the last eighty years.

Stairs designed around access ramps

Landscape architect Cornelia Oberlander designed these stairs around the need for an access ramp.  Good on you, Ms. Oberlander.

Honda Super Cub

This couple has been together for 50 years.  The information with the photos indicated that is the same Honda Super Cub in the two images.  The Super Cub is reported to be not only the best selling motorcycle of all time, but also the best selling motorized form of transportation in the world.

Abandoned long ago

As I was checking some of the blogs I follow this morning I saw that
Just a Car Guy had posted the images of the tricycle below. It goes well
with the bicycle I had planned to post today.
