Enzmann 506 Cabriolet

The Enzmann 506 was produced in Switzerland from 1957 until the late 1960's. It was introduced at the Frankfurt Auto Show in 1957. The company purchased new Volkswagen Beetles and removed the bodies. They refitted the floorpans with their fiberglass bodywork which was produced in a boatyard in Grandson, Switzerland. There were about 100 cars produced. Customers could also buy just the fiberglass bodies and assemble the cars themselves. Performance upgrades were as easy as they were on the Beetle and some owners installed Porsche 356 power plants. Apparently the bodies could still be obtained from the family as late as 2009.
