Robert Fuson was a surgeon that entered this firetruck in the Great American Race. Not just one race but actually nine of them. The La France was a chain drive truck. It broke down two or three times a day but fortunately the breakdowns were seldom serious- more along the lines of flat tires, overheating of fouled sparkplugs.
