KdF-Wagen (Beetle sedan)
The Volkswagenwerk factory was destroyed following a series of Allied air raids. That abruptly stopped the production of missile and artillery systems that were being built there. Shortly after the war British engineers found a completely intact KdF-Wagen as well as the machines, tooling and parts used in its production stored in the basement of the facility.
An effort to speed up production resulted in a pickup and gooseneck trailer be assembled from the parts found in the basement. It was used to transport the freshly assembled KdF-Wagens to the inventory lot. In 1947 as production was increased the transporter was disassembled and used for parts.
