In 1940 the United States wanted to explore and lay claim to part of Antarctica. The plan was to develop a vehicle that could both travel across the landscape as well as serve as living quarters and mobile laboratory for five people.
After watching the YouTube video it seems apparent that the research for the project fell far short of "adequate".
