A salute to the firefighters that tackled the horrendous fire at Notre Dame this week.  While on a trip to Paris some years ago I found these brothers engaged in more routine activities and they were kind enough to pose for a group picture.

Test pilot George Aird was flying one of the pre-production English Electric Lighting F1 aircraft on final approach to Hatfield air base on September 13,1962.  The tailplane control system failed due to a fire.  Aird was forced to eject at 100 feet.  He survived with injuries including broken legs.  The photographer was Jim Meads.  He was a professional photographer who lived near the airfield.  Read more here.

As this individual matures it could weigh in at 110 lbs. (50kg) and have a radial span of 20 ft. (6 m).  The record for this species is 156 lbs (71 kg).  Additional information available on Wikipedia.

A French maker of motor homes, caravans, and trailers.  Apparently partial to a red and green color scheme.  The motor home is from the '50's.
