Lean on me


Architects of Uhlik Architekti designed this structure for a client who wanted a retreat neat Prague. It is only 200 square feet and some of the materials were found on the property.  Local craftsmen were involved in the construction.  It is described as a simple space where the owner can enjoy a quiet escape from city living.

Praying for rain

Mood blanket?


British Airways has conducted some testing with a blanket that monitors neuron activity in the brain.  A headband transmits information to the blanket and when a person is stressed it glows red. A calm and relaxed person's blanket will glow blue.

These tests were conducted in the first class cabin.  I would guess that the if they ran the same tests in economy they would get very different results.

1948 Buick Streamliner


Norman E. Timbs was a mechanical engineer who worked mostly in the design of Indy 500 cars.  He spent two years and $10,000 to build this car.  $8000 of that budget was needed to fabricate the aluminum body.  Additional images and information is available here.
