I attended the Mark Kroos concert tonight at the Westwood United Methodist Church in Cincinnati. Nice early evening event with about 50 people in a chapel for an hour of music. I think Smoke and Mirrors was my favorite.
A very talented musician and a nice person.

Far Side / Calvin and Hobbs
I used to look forward to seeing the daily paper because of the Far Side by Gary Larson as well as Calvin and Hobbs by William Watterson.
The last Far Side was published on January 1, 1995. Calvin and Hobbs ended on December 31, 1995. I have never found any replacements.

1957 Chevrolet convertible
With a little over 3 days to go on this auction the current bid is $7100. Lots of photos of this barn find "classic" on the eBay listing. Mark Kroos- tap guitar
I have never understood two necked guitars. Why would you need two necks? Of course I have limited exposure, but my experience has been that a player simply alternated from one neck to the other.
Meet Mark Koos. He stays busy working both necks... at the same time. While looking over his webpage I see that he is playing in Cincinnati on Wednesday, March 27th (6:30PM) at the Westwood United Methodist Church located at 3460 Epworth Avenue. Tickets are FREE with donations accepted.

A knight of old
Apparently there are a lot of people digging up the UK. They have found the grave of a medieval knight under an old city parking lot in Edinburgh. In addition to the knights grave they found the foundations of a monastery built by a former king of Scotland.
Lake Baikal, Siberia, Russia
Lake Baikal is located in southeastern Siberia. It is the oldest fresh water lake on Earth at 20-25 million years old. It is also one of the largest and deepest lakes holding 20% of the freshwater on the planet.

My mother lived on this farm as a child. I took this picture in the mid '70's near Lisbon, Ohio. The owner at the time still used horses. Plowing with horses was never easy work, but a helper came in handy when it came time to turn the horses at the end of the field.

Lone survivor
Japan just marked the second anniversary of its earthquake, tsunami and nuclear catastrophe, that killed almost 19,000 people. This 27 meter tall tree was a single survivor among 70,000 trees in a forest along the coast. It has just been restored in a project to preserve it as a memorial.
Brick barn
This structure is near Greenville, Ohio. While brick and mortar barns are not uncommon in central Pennsylvania I can not recall seeing one in Ohio before. Perhaps it has an interesting story associated with it.
Sakurajima Volcano

Crooked Forest
A forest of about 400 trees in Nowe Czarnowo, Poland. Believe to have been planted around 1930 and allowed to grow 7 to 10 years before being held down in some way for an unknown period of time. Not believed to have occurred naturally but rather some form of human manipulation.
